THE POWER OF RECYCLING partners: MUNANDI ART STUDIO - LUSAKA, ZAMBIA In 2018 we established a collaboration with Munandi Art Studio in Lusaka, Zambia. We were fascinated by a project of theirs from 2015. They invited Zambian artists to discuss for two weeks the influence of Western contemporary art language, specifically Conceptualism, on the Zambian art scene, and created sculptures made out of recycled materials.
In the collaborative game took part a group of Zambian and Polish artists. 1. Munandi Art Studio notes : A giant metal structure that had been built to be used as a construction for a Christmas tree at a shopping mall in Lusaka is restored and team starts covering it with car tyres. 2. Eventually collected water in the foil bags and the central drum create sound.
